USAcig's and Hop-on Letter to State Senator
Duane of New York on S7234 & A9529 New Legislation
IRVINE, Calif., April 23, 2010 (GLOBE
NEWSWIRE) -- Hop-on (Pink Sheets:HPNN) and
USAcig, Inc. announced that they sent their plea
to the State Senator of New York: Thomas K.
Duane on banning electronic cigarettes. Who is
really behind this legislation? The letter is as
follows:
Re: Health Committee legislation to ban sales
of "electronic cigarettes" (S7234 & A9529) Who is
really behind this legislation?
Dear Senator Duane:
USAcig, Inc. and its customers hereby request
that you OPPOSE S7234 & A9529 because this would
force electronic cigarette consumers (who quit
smoking by switching to electric cigarette
products and/or are trying to quit) to either go
back to smoking tobacco cigarettes or purchase
this product illegally. An even better alternative
is to AMEND the legislation so it just bans
Electronic Cigarettes from sales to minors, as is
the law with all other tobacco products. The
front and back of our packaging at USAcig states:
"Not for sale to those under 18 years old." Also
stated on our packaging is: "if you do smoke
cigarettes, stop smoking."
We are working hard to prove that our products
are a safer alternative to traditional
cigarettes. I have family members who have passed
away or have cancer from the deadly ingredients
found in cigarettes. Why don't you just ban
cigarettes from the market place? Every year
hundreds of thousands of people around the world
die from diseases caused by smoking cigarettes.
SMOKING KILLS.
One in two lifetime smokers will die from their
habit of smoking tobacco products. Even more
interesting, half of these deaths will occur in
middle age.
The mixture of tobacco and carbon monoxide in
each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases
your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your
heart and blood vessels. This action and reaction
can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your
blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and
hands. As a result, some smokers have even ended
up having their limbs amputated.
Do you understand that tar coats your lungs
like soot in a chimney and causes cancer? A
20-a-day smoker breathes in up to a full cup (210
g) of tar in a year. To make matters worse,
changing to low-tar cigarettes does not help
because smokers usually take deeper puffs and hold
the smoke in for longer, dragging the tar deeper
into their lungs. Carbon monoxide robs your
muscles, brain and body tissue of oxygen,
resulting in your whole body, and especially your
heart, working harder than it should. Over time,
your airways swell up and let less air into your
lungs. Tragically, tobacco smoke also contributes
to a number of other cancers, not just lung
cancer.
Men who smoke are ten times more likely to die
from lung cancer than non-smokers. Heart disease
and strokes are also more common among smokers
than non-smokers. Smoking causes fat deposits to
narrow and block blood vessels that can lead to
heart attack. Smoking causes around one in five
deaths from heart disease.
In younger people, three out of four deaths
from heart disease are due to smoking. The
combustion of tobacco kills, not nicotine!
In women, along with risks of heart disease and
cancer, cigarette smoking during pregnancy
actually increases the risk of low birth weight,
prematurity, spontaneous abortion, and perinatal
mortality in humans, which has also been referred
to as the fetal tobacco syndrome.
As mentioned earlier, these paragraphs can only
begin to convey the harmful health effects of
smoking tobacco cigarettes and its long-term side
effects.
Secondhand smoke is both the smoke given off by
the burning end of a cigarette, pipe or cigar and
the smoke that is exhaled by the smoker.
Secondhand smoke is involuntarily inhaled by
nonsmokers, can stay in the air after cigarettes
have been put out, and can cause or worsen a wide
range of illnesses, including cancer, heart
disease, respiratory disease and asthma.

Agency Web site
Secondhand smoke kills tens of thousands of
Americans every year and causes serious
life-threatening illnesses for thousands more.
Electronic cigarettes can eliminate second-hand
smoke altogether. No one in your immediate
surroundings will be affected by the water vapor
and nicotine contents being exhaled. Electric
cigarettes are a better alternative for everyone,
even the environment.
Instead of protecting health (as some groups
claim), S7234 & A9529 threatens public health by
protecting the deadliest consumer product
(cigarettes) from market competition by far less
hazardous smoke-free alternatives. Our consumers
and smokers have a human right to access and use
far less hazardous tobacco alternatives to
cigarettes.
In closing, please consider the following
statements:
Nicotine in its natural form is a very healthy
natural stimulant.
There are no scientific facts saying that
Electronic Cigarettes are dangerous.
Why don't you ban ALL TOBACCO products? My aunt
has cancer caused by tobacco products and is
enduring Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments! My
father in-law died of lung cancer! My family had
no smoking alternatives like a hand-to-mouth
smoking device vs. patch, nicotine gum; now there
are: electric cigarettes.
Please reject or amend this outrageous
legislation.
Sincerely, Peter Michaels,
Chairman
